Letter from our Principal

Students, Parents and Community Members:

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer vacation. Please take time over the summer to spend quality time with one another and simply just be a family. You can do this by putting down your cell phones and talking with one another, going for a walk and enjoying the beautiful murals throughout our downtown communities that tell the rich stories of who we are and our history, riding a bike alongside the river, spending a Saturday morning at the Grower's Market or at the Albuquerque Rail Yards as well as taking advantage of the many free museums in our neighborhoods.

School will resume on Monday, August 13, 2018. Upon our return, our school community will be entering into a new phase of transformation that will allow our students and teachers to have more instructional time to support literacy development and more opportunities to engage in teacher collaboration to increase teacher responsiveness to individual student needs to support school and student achievement. We will be transitioning to a block schedule that will provide students and teachers with increased instructional time in the areas of reading/written language and math. This schedule will also provide our students with more opportunities to participate in our Elective Programs that have historically been limited due to scheduling and/or program restrictions and requirements. As a school community we are excited to take on this endeavor in hopes of better meeting the educational needs of our student body through intervention and enrichment opportunities for ALL students.

Please don't forget to sign up for ParentVue if you have not already done so! Having a ParentVue account is NOT ONLY important for monitoring your child's academic performance BUT ALSO is NOW REQUIRED for the district's on-line registration system. As a district, we will no longer be completing the registration process the "old fashioned" way. We will still need families to come to school the school prior to August 13 to pick up their schedule and obtain their school ID and Agendas. School IDs are $5 and recommended for school safety, accessing the cafeteria and library, and boarding the bus. Agendas are essential to help students organize their assignments and provide school and families with daily academic/behavior communication.

If you need assistance with support with the on-line registration system, we will have on sight support on August 7 and August 8 from 9:00 - 3:-30 p.m.

Please feel free to contact me directly via email or by phone at (505) 252-3135 if you have any further questions.

Enjoy your summer! See you in August.

Respectfully,

Angela Rodriguez, Principal
