Having the UNM School-Based Health Center (SBHC) at Washington middle school is like having a doctor’s office right on campus!  The SBHC offers medical and behavior health services to all students regardless of their ability to pay. Make sure to complete the SBHC registration form and select the box to give permission for your child to receive services.  If you need a registration form, please stop by and see us.

SERVICES WE PROVIDE

  • Well Child Exams (yearly check-ups)
  • Immunizations
  • Diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses
  • Management of chronic illnesses
  • Minor Injury care
  • Vision, hearing, and blood pressure screenings                     
  • Health education, counseling, and wellness promotion
  • Behavioral health services including screening, assessment and treatment for issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD.
  • Coordination with your child’s primary doctor

Wednesday/Miercoles:   8:30 am - 4:00 pm
        Thursday/Jueves:   8:30 am - 4:00 pm

UNM sponsors a School Based Health Center at school in the nurse’s office. They can see students if they are not feeling well, have personal issues, or just want a sport physical. They are at school from from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on:

  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday

A nurse practitioner, a social worker, a child psychiatrist and a clinical assistant staff the clinic. The SBHC is able to provide a variety of services including immunizations, sport physicals, check-up, and counseling.

Parents must register their child and give permission for their child to be seen.  Parents are encouraged and welcome to come with their child for an appointment.

UNM – Centro de Salud en la Escuela

La misión del programa de centro de salud UNM School-Based es facilitar y apoyar a las escuelas, familias y comunidades para abordar las necesidades sociales, físicas y emocionales de los estudiantes para que pueden alcanzar su máximo potencial. Servicios multidisciplinarios, incluyendo prevención, educación, cuidado de la salud, consejería, remisión y seguimiento se proporcionan de una manera culturalmente sensible. Operaciones de salud escolar basado en principios incluyen aumentar el acceso a la más alta calidad de la atención y formación de profesionales de la salud.

Un centro de salud en la escuela (SBHC) es un lugar seguro y accesible en el campus de una escuela donde todos los estudiantes pueden ir para servicios de atención médica integrales primarios y comportamiento independientemente de su capacidad de pago. SBHCs enfoca en salud preventiva, establecer estilos de vida saludables y reconocer los problemas de salud de los adolescentes como fumar, accidentes, abuso de sustancias y la depresión. Programas SBHC también buscan mejorar el desarrollo de la juventud sana y reducir las barreras al aprendizaje.
